West Virginia Society of CPAs Presents Melissa Price with Public Service Award

Melissa Price, a partner at Brown Edwards’ Charleston, West Virginia office, has won the West Virginia Society of CPAs (WVSCPA) Public Service Award. This award recognizes a West Virginia CPA who demonstrates leadership, is involved in their community, makes an impact, and provides outstanding service. Melissa was honored at WVSCPA’s 103rd Annual Meeting held at the Greenbrier on June 18th.
 
The WVSCPA mission is “to achieve excellence by providing their members superior advocacy, leadership, service, lifelong learning and personal and professional development opportunities.” With six chapters located geographically through the state, they are able to provide educational and networking opportunities at a local level.
 
For more than 20 years, Melissa has provided accounting, tax, consulting and attest services for a variety of closely held businesses, nonprofit organizations, and employee benefit plans.  She balances a diverse client load, which includes multi-state retailers, dealerships, not-for-profit organizations, professional service firms, construction, and physician practices.
 
Melissa is very involved in her community, which is demonstrated through her positions as treasurer and board member for the Children’s Therapy clinic, treasurer for the Charleston Vandalia Rotary Club, past treasurer of the West Teays Elementary PTO, member of Junior Achievement and her membership in the Marshall University Division of Accountancy and Legal Environment Advisory Board. In addition, she is also a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the West Virginia Society of CPAs, where she serves on the Recruiting and Opportunity project group, and the Charleston Chapter of the West Virginia Society of CPAs.
