Grand Caverns Park presents the first annual Cave & Karst Expo as the grand finale to a National Cave Week celebration
Grottoes, VA – The Town of Grottoes’ Parks & Tourism Department will present the Cave & Karst Expo, taking place at Grand Caverns Park on June 10th, 2023, featuring family fun and educational showcases from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm.

Bring the family out and learn what makes the Shenandoah Valley so unique with caves and geology! This event will be packed with our partners including; Bat Conservation & Rescue of Virginia, Cave Conservancy of the Virginias, Charlottesville Caving Grotto, DCR Virginia Natural Heritage Program, Front Royal Caving Grotto, Geologic Times Corporation & Science Center, JMU Geology & Environmental Science Department, JMU Caving Club, Melrose Caverns, National Natural Landmark Program (NPS), Shenandoah National Park, Virginia Museum of Natural History, Virginia Living Museum, Vivid Earth Adventures, and the C & C Country Cookin’ Food Truck.

Fun engaging activities for the whole family include rock painting, Jr. Cave Scientist Certification, Caving Relay Race, Crack open a geode millions of years old (and keep it!), learn about how to build bat boxes, test your ability to squeeze through simulated cave squeez, watch professionals utilize vertical caving equipment to climb vertical shafts.

Throughout National Cave Week (6/4 – 6/10) Grand Caverns will be discounting all tours 50% in celebration of 2023 being the 50th anniversary as a National Natural Landmark.
