Child Care Aware of Virginia Secures PPE with support from AT&T
Child Care Aware of Virginia (CCAoVA) works to improve access to and quality of child care in Virginia by helping families find child care, developing the child care workforce through training and business support services, and advocating for policies that ensure safe, quality, equitable care is available to all children in Virginia.
During the COVID-19 crisis, CCAoVA has supported thousands of first-responder and essential service families with their ongoing child care needs, connecting them to the child care programs that were able and willing to remain open to provide the critical care needed to keep essential services functioning. CCAoVA has provided support to thousands of child care professionals, providing resources throughout this crisis to ensure that our front-line workers had access to available care options and that child care programs were equipped to weather this storm.
A $50,000 contribution from AT&T is enabling CCAoVA to purchase personal protective equipment (PPE) and cleaning supplies for the professionals serving families of essential workers across the Commonwealth as this crisis wears on.
Angela Wirt, Executive Director of CCAoVA said: “It’s been a continued struggle for child care providers to find and afford the supplies and protective equipment needed to safely provide care during this crisis. This contribution will help meet a substantial need in our communities for this critical workforce, which has gone above and beyond to serve Virginia families throughout this challenging time. We’re so thankful to be able to support them and give back in some way.”
Vince Apruzzese, president, AT&T Virginia, said AT&T’s has been working with organizations across the Commonwealth to help them serve their local communities during this crisis.
“Gov. Northam moved quickly to ensure essential personnel had access to quality child care during the crisis. We wanted to step in to help insure those who are providing such an important service had the PPE and other supplies they needed,” said Apruzzese.
