Veteran reporter Margaret Edds will talk about her recent book, We Face the Dawn: Oliver Hill, Spottswood Robinson, and the Legal Team that Dismantled Jim Crow (University of Virginia Press, 2018), which tells the story of the NAACP attorneys who laid the groundwork for the pivotal Brown vs. Board of Education, and who eventually found themselves in the Supreme Court arguing for equality. Margaret Edds' career spanned thirty-four-years of covering Virginia politics and government, first as a statehouse reporter and then as an editorial writer for the Norfolk Virginian-Pilot.
