The Hot Mamas are one of the hottest new acts in the Shenandoah Valley! This all female singer-songwriter collective formed in 2022 and has been making waves with their powerful original songs of love, loss, friendship and women empowerment.
The group already has a reputation for catchy hooks and unforgettable harmonies, and all four members of The Hot Mamas are prolific songwriters. Mallory McKendry, Maria Leckey, Jess Young, and Casey Rolfe may be called The Hot Mamas – but only one of the four songwriting women in the group is a mother. A mom in real life, McKendry formed the music group in June with friend and collaborator Leckey, of Staunton. Rolfe and Young, both of Staunton, joined soon after. “She’s our only mom,” Young said, of McKendry. “The rest of us have like cats and stuff.”
With instrumentation ranging from toy piano, clarinet, banjo, accordion, ukulele, washboard, dueling kazoos to amazing harmonies, The Hot Mamas not only entertain and know how to have a good time but they also captivate audiences with their vocal and emotional depth.Their writing styles range from jazzy to pop, from sea chanties to murder ballads, soulful blues to drinkin’-when-you’re-sad country tunes. The Hot Mamas are quirky, fun, profound and sincere and not to be missed!
Spectator Bird, the sister folk duo opening for this Album Release Party, weaves sibling harmonies with award winning songwriting to produce a tapestry of sound that is at once honest and elegant, sincere and captivating.
