Eastern Mennonite University's Department of Music will present its annual Music Gala Concert - a Gala concert unlike any other - at 7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 9, in EMU's Lehman Auditorium. Headlined by guest artist, Metropolitan Opera singer and current Phantom of the Opera on Broadway star, soprano Janinah Burnett, the concert of "Rutter, Rhapsody, and Radiance" will feature the EMU Chamber Orchestra, University Choir, Jazz Ensemble, and Wind Ensemble in special performances of John Rutter's Requiem, Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue (with pianist David Berry), music from Mozart's Don Giovanni (baritone James Richardson), and opera arias by Verdi and Puccini and jazz classics by Ellington and Fitzgerald.
Hosted by WMRA All Things Considered radio host Kimberlea Daggy.
Free admission; donations welcome for EMU's Music Scholarship Fund.
