Event Description:
Third Thursday Talk at The Heritage Museum

Augusta County Historian Nancy Sorrells will discuss the 1918 Spanish Flu Pandemic, both globally and on the homefronts of Augusta and Rockingham Counties.

When WWI ended on November 11, 1918, 16 million people around the world had perished as a result of the conflict, including 117,000 Americans. But that staggering number pales in comparison to the second, deadlier event that occurred simultaneously—the influenza pandemic that peaked in the fall of 1918.
