Name: Business Smarts·Wellness & Prevention: One of Your Daily Job Duties
Date: March 9, 2018
Time: 8:00 AM - 9:30 AM EST
Registration: Sorry, public registration for this event has been closed.
Event Description:

Many people, especially those working in office situations, know they need to exercise and take care of themselves.  Yet the demands of work and life often leave little time or desire to carve out a separate exercise and workout segment in the day.  Understanding more about the body as a movement system can help bring perspective, information, and strategies that can be incorporated into daily activity.  Attendees will learn more about the body, movement, position and posture, activity, and putting these to use in working for you all day, regardless of duties or roles.  There will also be opportunity for exploring the many “health care” products and recommendations that bombard us and have an open discussion about their value and role.

About the Presenter:

Dr. Colleen Whiteford co-founded Appalachian Physical Therapy with her husband and partner, Bill, in 1986.  They have been providing outpatient physical therapy services in offices in the Shenandoah Valley since 1987 with offices currently in Broadway and Harrisonburg.  The practice’s approach to addressing a wide variety of neuro-musculo-skeletal complaints continues to emphasize the role of connective tissue, especially fascia, on movement and pain.  Dr. Whiteford has spoken and taught in multiple settings on dry needling, Fascial Manipulation®, and the improvement that can be accomplished in many cases with appropriate attention to the soft tissues.
