Kemper Funkhouser selected as Virginia’s REALTOR® of the Year



HARRISONBURG, VA – (JANUARY 27, 2022) – The Virginia REALTORS® has named Shenandoah Valley REALTOR®, Kemper Funkhouser, its highest honor - Virginia REALTOR® of the Year!

This honor is bestowed to professionals who have made proven contributions to the real estate industry through both professional achievement and outstanding volunteerism. This year’s awardee was selected by a committee of peers as a standout among an association of nearly 37,000 members.

In 2021, Kemper was appointed to the Virginia Real Estate Board by the Governor of Virginia. The Virginia Real Estate Board is composed of nine individuals appointed by the Governor and is the licensing authority for all Virginia real estate licensees. It oversees enforcement of licensing and fair housing laws.

Kemper has a long history of service in the real estate industry. He is the Chief Operating Officer and Supervising Broker of the Funkhouser Real Estate Group. He served as the 2020 President of Virginia REALTORS®, helping to lead the association through the challenges and uncertainties of the COVID-19 pandemic. He has served as both Chair and Vice Chair for the Professional Standards Committee of the National Association of REALTORS® and was elected to its Board of Directors.

Kemper devotes much of his time working with associates within Funkhouser Real Estate Group and educating real estate professionals within the industry. He is a certified instructor of REALTOR® Ethics and teaches courses in real estate as an adjunct professor at James Madison University.
