OASIS PRESS RELEASE (for October 2018 Events) 

 EXHIBITS:
Main Gallery:  On First Friday October 6th we will host a reception for the new show “Shenandoah Inspirations”, in which OASIS artists create art  to celebrate our beautiful valley.  The First Friday reception, from 5-8, includes light refreshments, live music by Simply Folk and is FREE.  The exhibit continues through October 31, 2018.  
Water Street Window Gallery:   The Water Street Window Gallery will have information about cancer awareness and events in support of that cause.
Demonstrations: October 5-14 is American Craft Week, which will be celebrated by First Friday (the 6th) and live demonstrations at OASIS.  On October 6th, Sarah Lock will show some of her metal smith skills; October 11th, brenda fairweather will be making baskets; October 13th, Barbara Camph will be doing a stained glass project.  All demonstrations will be from 12-3.

Activities:
Art & Tea:  on October 9, from 2-4 pm, Betty Gatewood will talk about botanical drawings: how to draw and paint botantical pictures.  This is FREE but registration is necessary by October 5th at oasisartandtea@gmail.com.
Art on Wheels: will be re-starting at the Boys & Girls Club at the Simms Center.

Kids’ Saturday Activities: On Saturday, October 13th, Edda will lead FREE children’s art activities, from 10:30 to 12:00.  Activities will be on a first-come-first-serve basis for children 5 years of age and older.  Media may change, will be varied, and may include painting, paper crafts and other fun projects.  Pre-registration by the prior Thursday (October 11th) is required by emailing edda4kinder@gmail.com.

OASIS is a co-op gallery with over 35 local artists and artisans, who exhibit and sell their work.  OASIS Fine Art & Craft is located at 103 S.
