Bridgewater College Jazz Ensemble Presents Concert as Part of ASPIRE

BRIDGEWATER, Va. — The Bridgewater College Jazz Ensemble will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, in Cole Hall at Bridgewater College. The concert is part of the college’s annual ASPIRE (Arts, Scholarship, Performance, Innovation and Research Excellence) celebration April 14 – 24.
 
The concert will be directed by Dr. Christine Carrillo, associate professor of music and director of instrumental music at Bridgewater College.
 
Philip Meador, a senior communication, technology and culture major with a minor in music, from Roanoke, Va., will be featured on alto saxophone on Lover Man, composed by Jimmy Davis, Roger Ramirez and Jimmy Sherman.
 
The concert also includes In the Mood by Joe Garland, as recorded by the Glenn Miller Orchestra, My Favorite Things by Richard Rodgers from The Sound of Music, In the Stone by Maurice White, David Foster and Allee Willis, as recorded by Earth, Wind and Fire and Antonio Carlos Jobim’s Desafinado.
 
The concert is free and open to the public.
 
Bridgewater College is a private, four-year liberal arts college located in the Central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Founded in 1880, it was the state’s first private, coeducational college. Today, Bridgewater College is home to more than 1,900 undergraduate students.
