The Rockingham Harrisonburg SPCA (RHSPCA) is a nonprofit animal welfare organization dedicated to improving the lives of pets and the people who love them across our community. Each year, we provide shelter, medical care, and second chances to nearly 3,000 animals, including those who are lost, abandoned, or surrendered due to challenging circumstances.
Our work goes beyond adoption. While we proudly connect thousands of animals with loving homes, we are equally committed to keeping pets with the families who already love them. Through accessible veterinary care, behavior support, and community based programs, we help remove the barriers that often lead to pet relinquishment. Initiatives like our Community Cat Program and upcoming low-cost veterinary clinic are designed to address the root causes of animal homelessness and improve outcomes at a community wide level.
We serve as a trusted partner to local governments, law enforcement, and social service agencies, providing support in times of crisis and ensuring animals receive the care they need when it matters most. Our impact is made possible by a dedicated team of staff, volunteers, fosters, and generous supporters who believe in a more compassionate community for animals and people alike.
At RHSPCA, we are not only caring for animals; we are strengthening the bond between pets and people, advancing humane solutions, and building a safer, more compassionate community for all.
