Since 1972, the Rockingham-Harrisonburg SPCA has been serving the homeless, abandoned pets of Rockingham County and the City of Harrisonburg. In addition to functioning as an SPCA, we also serve as the impoundment facility for both localities.
Our mission is to promote respect, compassion, education and advocacy resulting in a humane and sustainable environment for all animals. Our vision is to foster a responsible and educated community that recognizes the importance of every animal and actively promotes its welfare. Our immediate goals are to reduce intake numbers through spay/neuter, education, counseling and utilization of pet resources and to ensure every adoptable pet is placed into a permanent, responsible environment and spayed/neutered prior to placement. We are also striving to increase adoptions through enhancing our public image, increased community outreach, developing relationships with responsible pet rescue organizations, implementing health and behavior assessment programs and offering animal welfare workshops and classes to our community.
