BLUFFTON, OHIO – More than 7,500 readers logged upwards of 45,000 hours of reading during Shirley’s Gourmet Popcorn Company’s National Reading Month program this March.

The program invited readers of all ages to enjoy a free bag of Shirley’s hand-created popcorn when they completed and logged at least six hours of reading.

“Support of reading and literacy is central to our brand,” said Pete Suter, Shirley’s co-founder and CEO, “and it is a testament to the quality of our product and the strength of our brand that we could inspire so many readers.”

In addition to the National Reading Month program, Shirley’s also commits 100% of sales on Shirley’s birthday to local literacy organizations and recently published “Timothy Troyer Tries Toast,” an original illustrated children’s book.

“One of our core values is relationships with our customers, and our commitment to reading is critical to achieving that goal,” said Suter.

Shirley’s Gourmet Popcorn Company is a franchise concept with seven retail stores open in Ohio, Indiana, and Virginia. A market driven brand with a focus on quality, integrity, and relationships, Shirley’s and its family of owner-operators work hard to create “pure happiness” every day.
