OASIS PRESS RELEASE (for December2018/January2019 Events)
FIRST NIGHT: Dwight Martin will be playing at OASIS from 6:30-9:30; we will have complimentary warm drinks.
EXHIBITS:
VMRC (Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community: “OASIS and Friends” will exhibit at VMRC, showing in a variety of media. The exhibit will run from 13 January to 15 February, and will be in the Park Gables Gallery, 1491 Virginia Avenue, Harrisonburg. The opening reception will be January 13, from 2-4 pm. There will also be a First Friday reception on February 1, from 5-7 pm. Both are open to the public and free.
Main Gallery: The Main Gallery will have a collection of art by OASIS artists, titled “Winter Fantasies”.
Water Street Window Gallery: The Water Street Window Gallery will exhibit work by OASIS artists.
ACTIVITIES:
Art & Tea: on January 8, from 2-4 pm, Eve Watters will lead “Journal Journey”; participants will make a simple set of journals and learn some clever ways to use them for a prosperous and creative New Year. This is FREE but registration is necessary by January 4th at oasisartandtea@gmail.com.
Art on Wheels: The OASIS activities at the Boys & Girls Club at the Simms Center will continue on January 23rd. We will be creating snowmen, from two different media!
Kids’ Saturday Activities: On Saturday, January 12, Edda will lead FREE children’s art activities, from 10:30 to 12:00. Activities will be on a first-come-first-serve basis for children 5 years of age and older. Media may change, will be varied, and may include painting, paper crafts and other fun projects. Pre-registration by the prior Thursday (January 10) is required by emailing edda4kinder@gmail.com.
OASIS is a co-op gallery with over 35 local artists and artisans, who exhibit and sell their work. OASIS Fine Art & Craft is located at 103 S. Main Street, Harrisonburg.
