Harrisonburg-Rockingham Small Business Resilience Taskforce Award More Than $100,000 in Grants

In June, the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Business Support Taskforce achieved a major milestone in awarding $105,500 in grants to small businesses located in the Harrisonburg-Rockingham area. Businesses were awarded a grant that ranged from $1500 to $5000 from March through June.
Funding for this program came from donors F&M Bank, Atlantic Union Bank, Wells Fargo Bank, Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance, individuals, as well as a grant from the Department of Housing and Community Development.
“The Taskforce is so grateful for the community’s support for locally owned small businesses as well as the Small Business Recovery Grant from the state,” says Andrea Dono, executive director of Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance. “This support made it possible for the Taskforce to offer small businesses grants that we hope will help see them through this recovery period and stabilize.”
Harrisonburg-Rockingham Business Support Taskforce members include representatives from the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce; the City of Harrisonburg Economic Development; Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance; the Shenandoah Valley Small Business Development Center (SVSBDC); the Shenandoah Valley Partnership; the Shenandoah Valley Technology Council; Rockingham Department of Economic Development and Tourism; and JMU’s Professional and Continuing Education. The Taskforce formed in March 2020 to coordinate a response to the pandemic to help small businesses in the Harrisonburg-Rockingham area.
