Massanutten Resort to Hold Arctic Plunge and 4K Benefiting Therapeutic Adventures
All Proceeds Benefit Therapeutic Adventures, a Non-Profit Providing Adaptive Ski and Snowboard Lessons
Massanutten, Va. – February 23, 2021 – While Snow Moon Fest has been postponed due to statewide COVID-19 gathering restrictions, Massanutten Resort is moving forward with the charitable aspects of this annual event, the Arctic Plunge and 4K on the Fairway, benefitting Therapeutic Adventures on March 5 and 6.
All proceeds will benefit Therapeutic Adventures, a non-profit that provides opportunities for those with disabilities, illnesses, and other health needs to experience the outdoors through camps, adaptive sports clinics, retreats, races, and service projects. During the winter season, they provide adaptive ski and snowboard lessons on the Massanutten ski slopes.
“We are fortunate to be able to continue holding these two events with Therapeutic Adventures this year in providing the local area and our guests something fun to participate in while giving back,” said Kenny Hess, director of sports and risk management.
On Friday, March 5, the Arctic Plunge will take place with the first wave starting at 6:00 p.m. at the Woodstone Recreation Center Outdoor Pool. Participants will take the plunge in the freezing cold water, held rain or shine, to raise money for Therapeutic Adventures. People are encouraged to recruit a friend, family member, co-worker, or acquaintance to take part in this icy fun challenge too.
For the younger philanthropists or those less comfortable in deeper water, Massanutten is offering The Arctic Splash. Take in a perfect view of the mountains before splashing and dashing your way through up to two and a half feet of water to tag the wall and declare victory.
The Arctic Plunge costs $25 per person and participants are encouraged to raise additional donations for a chance to win prizes like Massanutten WaterPark Passes, Ski Slope-Use Passes, Golf Passes, and Mountain Bike Park Passes.
Next up, participants can get their run on during the 4K on the Fairway on Saturday, March 6 with the first wave beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Mountain Greens Golf Course. Runners or walkers will wind their way through the front nine of this scenic course. This event will be offered in-person or virtual where runners can track their distance from the comfort of their treadmill or any nearby track area.
The cost is $25 per person to participate or people can sign up for both the Arctic Plunge and the 4K on the Fairway for only $40. These events are open to the public and make a great corporate team-building event for anyone looking to give back and have fun while doing it.
