LENHART PETTIT ELECTS NEW PRESIDENT

Lenhart Pettit is pleased to announce the election of Michael E. Derdeyn as President of the law firm effective January 1, 2018.

“This is an exciting time for Lenhart Pettit,” said Mike Derdeyn, “we are deepening our bench in both Charlottesville and Harrisonburg to respond to the ever-expanding needs of our clients.  I am happy to contribute what I can to help guide the future of our firm.”

Mike’s legal practice focuses on the areas of commercial and real estate litigation, employment law, and general business law. He serves as general counsel to local businesses and has litigated and resolved matters involving partnership and shareholder disputes, trade secrets violations, fraud, business torts, defamation, tortious interference with contract, breach of contract, wrongful termination, discrimination, violations of the Uniform Commercial Code, violations of the Consumer Protection Act, real property disputes, and trust and estate matters, among many others. He also has successfully handled numerous injunction actions for employers seeking to restrict competition by former employees.

Mike obtained his law degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law, graduating magna cum laude in 1996. He practiced in Richmond, Virginia for a couple of years after graduation, before returning home to Charlottesville in 1998. He has been named for inclusion  in The Best Lawyers in America®, and Virginia Business’ “Legal Elite” listings and has been selected to “Virginia Super Lawyers,” a Thomson Reuters publication. He is engaged in the Charlottesville community donating his time and talents to St. Anne’s-Belfield School and the Music Resource Center.
