Kroger Giving Out Fruit To Kids
HARRISONBURG — Kroger is giving out fresh fruit to children younger than 12 each time they visit the store.
According to a press release, the grocer's mid-Atlantic division is seeking to encourage healthy eating habits in children.
A child-size display will be set up in each store for children to pick out their choice of a banana, apple or orange, the release says.
“We hope parents will take advantage of the free fruit to talk with their children about the importance of eating healthy at an early age,” Allison McGee, a Kroger spokeswoman, said in the release. “Keeping a small offering of fruit in front of children at meals and snack times encourages them to try eating fruit,” added McGee, “but it takes time to instill habits.”
