Eastern Mennonite University landed in the top third of two rankings reported by this month by The Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education. EMU ranked 299 out of 801 institutions nationally, rising 53 spots over its 2018 ranking. It was also ranked 66th out of 209 institutions in the South region.
The WSJ/THE methodology uses 15 individual performance metrics, grouped in four pillars: resources, engagement, outcomes and environment. Of all the pillars, outcomes is weighted the highest at 40 percent, emphasizing a return on investment from attending a school and the success of students after graduation. The indicators are selected to answer “questions that matter the most when choosing a university.”
Additionally, the Sierra Club listed EMU as a “Cool School” for its dedication to sustainability and environmentalism.
