Here’s the latest in our response https://www.brafb.org/covid-19/. We are still exempt from Gov. Northam’s Stay-At-Home order. As you can imagine, we’re serving more neighbors, likely due to the increased unemployment rate that we’re currently seeing not only in our area but across the country. Here’s the email that Michael sent out on 4/2. If you do not receive these emails and would like to, please feel free to visit https://www.brafb.org/subscription-home/ and sign up for our e-newsletters. We promise to not inundate your inbox.

Our current greatest needs include the following:
  • Donate money – Our resources will be stretched and strained in the coming months in ways we cannot even imagine today. Making a financial gift—left unrestricted for the Food Bank to use where the need is greatest—will give us flexibility to respond as things change. Typically, we can provide 4 meals for every $1 contributed; thank you for sharing what you can. (DONATE HERE)
  • Volunteer – We’ve put strategies in place to make our volunteer workspaces even safer to visit. We anticipate needing more volunteers than ever before! If you are healthy and willing to share your time and energy, thank you for sharing those gifts at the Food Bank or a local food pantry near you. All four warehouse locations will see an increase in available work, as well as Mobile Food Pantry rural sites. In addition, for now we allow volunteers age 16+ to work in our warehouses (this is a change); ideally, those ages 16-17 will be accompanied by an adult because staff will not have time to supervise adolescents who can’t work independently. We’ll update our online volunteer calendar frequently, so check back often or create a volunteer account and we’ll contact you as needs arise. (VIEW VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES)
  • Engage Others – Enlist your friends and family to join the cause. Share our emails, engage with and share our posts on Facebook or Twitter, or consider creating an online drive (virtual food!) or Facebook fundraiser to benefit the Food Bank. The more we come together, the stronger we will all be on the other side of this. (BE A HUNGER HERO)
